-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Q u o t e: We think that PvP has focused a little too much on burst damage lately. While we think it will get better at 70 when players have more health and mitigation, we also want to make a change to resilience.
We increased the damage reduction component from 2 times the critical strike chance reduction to 2.2 times the critical strike chance reduction. Put another way, one point of resilience now lowers damage from crits by 2.2% instead of 2%. In addition, the maximum damage reduction to a critical strike was increased from 30% to 33%. The chance of crits themselves hasn't changed, and the dot reduction and mana drain reduction have not changed.
What this means is that you should overall take less damage from a crit when you have some resilience gear.
This change will affect existing gear. We aren't asking you to go out and improve your gear in order to reach a new cap at level 70.
PvP balance can be very sensitive to changes, so we'll certainly keep an eye on what happens with this slight tweak to the formula.
